From Fragmented Processes
to Connected Business Systems

Inside an approximately $80M manufacturer: a connected approach to product development, pricing, and commercial intelligence.

THE CONTEXT MATTERS

The work described here was performed through professional experience before BIZ-E was formally created. The organization was not a BIZ-E client. Figures are approximate and based on the founder’s account.

01 / THE OPERATING CONTEXT

Three different problems.
A shared systems challenge.

New-program setup took significant effort. Proposal pricing relied on fragmented inputs. Commercial information was spread across disconnected documents and processes.

The response was not one large software replacement. It was a series of practical systems improvements: standardize the repeatable work, bring related inputs together, and give teams a common structure they could continue using.

The approach developed across product development, pricing, and commercial intelligence. Each solution addressed a specific operational need while reducing dependency on individual workarounds.

02 / NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Make the next program
easier to start.

New-program setup previously required approximately one working week. A standardized five-phase new product development process created a repeatable structure.

What was built

  • More than 30 reusable documents and templates.
  • A standardized folder and information architecture.
  • An integrated schedule.
  • Automated action-item tracking.

Approximately 50–75 programs ultimately used the structure. New-program setup reduced to approximately one day—roughly 80% faster than the previous setup effort.

The approximate percentage compares a five-working-day week with one day. It describes setup time, not total program delivery time.

03 / PROPOSAL PRICING

One model.
A more dependable answer.

Fragmented pricing processes were consolidated into one structured model. Engineering work breakdown structure inputs were incorporated, and calculations for chargeable non-recurring engineering were automated.

The model included instructions and was used by multiple employees. Complex proposal pricing that had taken several hours could ultimately be completed in under one hour.

The result also improved executive confidence in the pricing outputs. That confidence is a qualitative observation, not a quantified accuracy claim.

04 / COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE

A common view of
the commercial picture.

A centralized internal commercial platform was built using Power Apps, Power BI, and the company’s existing Microsoft environment. It replaced approximately four to six disconnected documents and processes.

The platform supported around 200 commercial opportunities annually and approximately 15–20 daily users across Sales, Business Development, Program Management, Engineering, and executive leadership.

The sales organization used the system continuously during the workday. Live Power BI reporting supported recurring conversations without relying on disconnected reporting documents.

Start working. Keep improving.

The first working CRM prototype was created over a weekend and iteratively improved thereafter. This describes the initial prototype, not a complete production deployment delivered in a weekend.

05 / BUILT TO KEEP WORKING

The strongest signal:
the systems stayed.

The systems remained operational after their creator left the organization. Reusable structures, instructions, and adoption across employees helped them become part of the business.

A useful system should outlast
the person who built it.

For BIZ-E, this experience informs a practical standard: understand the work, build something people can use, and measure the change against the original problem.

06 / EVIDENCE & LIMITATIONS

Approximate outcomes.
Clear boundaries.

This anonymized account is based on professional experience supplied by BIZ-E’s founder. Figures are approximate, not independently audited performance data. The manufacturer’s name is intentionally omitted.

No company-wide savings, revenue gain, financial ROI, or accuracy percentage is claimed. Past outcomes do not guarantee future results. A new engagement needs its own baseline, scope, and measurement plan.
